Uses of caesium9/28/2023 Caesium-based atomic clocks use to regulate the timing in. Caesium is softest among all metals which are solid at room temperature. Cesium-137 is a radioactive isotope of cesium that is used medically. Caesium chloride with the non-radioactive caesium 133 occurs naturally, as a trace constituent in some minerals and in mineral water (which is where caesium was discovered). It is used to remove oxygen from light bulbs and vacuum tubes. It is also used in photoelectric cells, infrared lamps, special glass. Although not usable in the earth's atmosphere, 1 kg of caesium in outer space could propel a vehicle 140 times as far as the burning of the same amount of any known liquid or solid. Uses of caesium In the petroleum industry, the compound caesium formate is used as a drilling fluid. Much cesium demand also comes from the oil and gas industry, which uses cesium formate brines in drilling fluids to prevent blow-outs in high-temperature, over-pressurized wells. Caesium is a soft metal which shines in gold colour. The uses of cesium include its uses in the production of optical glasses and vacuum tubes and inside atomic clocks. Cesium is used in manufacturing optical glasses and other optical instruments. Caesium and caesium compounds are used as catalysts and as scavenger metals.
